Dennis gave Elise some reading material on Child Poverty Action Network. She will review it and bring any info to September meeting. Ken moved to run summer advertising on *96, as we did last year. Seconded by Mary, passed Moved by Ken to run back to school promotion on My FM one week before school starts, Seconded by Keith, passed Elise is waiting for a response from Beth Ethier from the OPP as to a press release and picture for the Ice Cream Coupon campaign. Elise is to contact Beth about the seat belt blitz which usually happens in September; maybe the committee can do a count before this happens. Also to see when she is dong the Drive wise and or Fraud prevention for seniors, maybe we could host it or provide refreshments etc. Has the car seat clinic happened yet, and if not when? Mike brought to the floor the excess of speeders on Hwy 148 and also Drive Inn Rd, early morning being the concern. He also mentioned the extra garbage pickup, some of the concerns being what is put out, Chemicals, tires, etc. and the fact that some people are putting things out two and three weeks before the pickup date. He asked why our by laws were not being enforced and why there are no tickets issued to these people. Dennis replied: It would be costly to issue tickets and possibly sue each person that violates the bylaws in this case. Our bylaw officer has several other jobs, and doesn’t’ have the time to drive around issuing tickets. He did mention that it is a concern to the township and that something is to go out in the next taxes to inform people not to put things out for large garbage until the day before or something to that nature. That if it continues there will be tickets issued etc. We also discussed the excess of the garbage being put out. Dennis mentioned that our contract with the disposal company does not change with the amount; it is one price for all. Another concern that was mentioned was the excess of traffic on Boundary Rd now due to the construction on Pembroke St and the detours. The main concern was the intersection at Boundary Rd and Bruham Ave. Traffic is now backed up on Bruham at the busy times (morning7-9am and evening 3-5pm) We know that there was a letter sent to the ministry of transportation and to the City of Pembroke concerning stop signs at this intersection, we really feel that this need is greater now. People are going to get impatient and there will be more accidents. We are now on vacation until September; Elise will notify the committee members as to the next meeting date. Motion to adjourn: Moved by Keith, seconded by Mike
