| 2004 Second Quarter Test ReportLaurentian Valley Water Works manages just over 13 kilometres of water main and branch lines in the Township. Laurentian Valley Water Works received its Certificate #2893 as a Water Distribution System Class 1 in November of 2000. The Drinking Water System Information number for Laurentian Valley Water Works is W260007465. This is the second report for 2004. Laurentian Valley Township has a water servicing agreement with the City of Pembroke. The water is purchased from the city and distributed in the Stafford Village area, part of Pembroke Street East and part of Pembroke Street West. The City treats and tests the water at the Pembroke Filtration Plant on Riverside Drive and tests the water in their distribution system. The Municipality tests the water in its distribution system. This report and the Certificates of Analysis are available to the general public at the front counter of the Municipal Office at 460 Witt Road during office hours. Quality AnalysisWater sampling was conducted by Claus Trost, Water Quality Analyst, Certificate number 12228 and Mark Zadow, Operator, Certificate number 13145. The water samples were sent to Caduceon Laboratories Inc. in Ottawa for analysis. Caduceon is an ODWS Accredited laboratory. The results of the analysis are faxed back to the Municipality. NOTE #1 - One sample taken May 25, 2004 at the Valley Spring location tested greater than 200 colony forming units per 100 millilitres of background bacteria. Three resamples were taken on May 28, 2004. The sample from Valley Spring tested less that 1 colony forming unit per 100 millilitres for background bacteria. However, one resample drawn from fire hydrant #56 tested positive for one Total Coliform per 100 millilitres. Another three samples were taken on May 31, 2004 of which all tested clear. ComplaintsNone received Staffing & TrainingLaurentian Valley Waterworks has 1 Water Quality Analyst, 2 operators certified Water Distribution- Class 1 and has started two operators in training. Staff were recertified for WHIMIS, First Aid and CPR on April 23, 2004 by Medi-Facts. MaintenanceThe air valve on the West End Main at Murphy Ford was replaced in April. A curbstop, broken during house construction at 697 Bruham Avenue, was replaced on June 14, 2004. ConstructionNo new services were connected. Ministry of the EnvironmentChristine Villeneuve, Provincial Officer of the Drinking Water Management Division attended the Office of Laurentian Valley Water Works on June 28, 2004 to audit our Distribution System. A report has not been received yet. SummaryIn the second quarter of 2004, the Municipality purchased 13,921,950 gallons of water from the City of Pembroke and distributed it to 531 homes and businesses. Water quality analysis has revealed two incidents of adverse water quality which were deemed to be sampling errors.
