Reeve Jack Wilson welcomed all present by inviting them to join in the Lord’s Prayer. 

The Reeve called the meeting to order with Council present;Steve Bennett, Dennis Gauthier, Rick O’Brien, Jim Sheedy and Kellard Witt.

It is hereby resolved that the Council of the Township of Laurentian Valley:
 

1. Has received an application under s. 442(1)(f) of the Municipal Act made by the Clerk of the Township on behalf of those persons that are the property owners of the properties listed on the attached Schedule.
2. Accepts that the purpose of the application as aforesaid is for the cancellation or reduction of certain taxes billed to the said property owners for the year 2002.
3. Has considered the following in its deliberations over the application as aforesaid:
   1. The County of Renfrew adopted its 2002 upper-tier rating By-Law #32/02 on April 24, 2002 using an industrial tax rate that was in excess of the industrial tax rate mandated by Ontario Regulation 162/02;
   2. As a result of the County’s industrial rate exceeding the industrial tax rate mandated by Ontario Regulation 162/02 the property owners of the properties listed on the attached Schedule would be overcharged by an amount equivalent to that detailed on the attached Schedule;
   3. The Council of the Township of Laurentian Valley has the jurisdiction under s. 442 of the Municipal Act to cancel or reduce the taxes of any person to offset an overcharge that is the result of a gross or manifest error that is a clerical error, the transposition of figures, a typographical error or similar type of error;
   4. Granting the relief sought in the application as aforesaid will ensure that the properties set out on the attached Schedule are taxed in 2002 as if the County industrial tax rate adopted in County By-Law #32/02, on April 24, 2002 was in accordance with the industrial tax rate mandated by Ontario Regulation 162/02 and that prescribed by County Council on June 26, 2002 in its resolution #FA-CC-02-131.
4. After due consideration of the application as aforesaid the Council of the Township of Laurentian Valley accepts the application as aforesaid and directs the Treasurer to amend the Collector’s Roll in accordance with the tax cancellation or reduction amounts for each of the properties as set out on the attached Schedule.,
