2010 Property Taxes - Final Tax Billings

The Township has sent out the final Residential, Farm and Managed Forest tax bills on or about July 21, 2010. They are due in two installments payable August 31, 2010 and October 29, 2010. Please remember that there is a 1 1/4% penalty applied per month on late payments.

The final tax bills for the capped classes (meaning the commercial, industrial, multi-residential) properties were also sent out on or about July 21, 2010.  The due dates for the capped properties are August 31, 2010 and October 29, 2010.

We also wish to point out that if your property has a combination of both residential, farm or managed forest assesment and a capped class assessment you will receive separate final tax bills.

If you have not received your tax bill, or have changed your mailing address, please contact the Municipal Office. If the property has changed ownership, please return the tax bill to the Municipal Office.

Please remember there are a variety of methods available to ratepayers to pay taxes:

  1. By submitting post dated cheques to the Municipal Office.
  2. By cheque, cash or Interac at the Municipal Office.
  3. By cheque, cash or Interac at the Bank of Nova Scotia Pembroke.
  4. By telephone/internet banking with all major banks.
  5. By mail slot at the Township Office (Left side of main door).

Please note: The Municipal Office is currently undergoing renovations which may cause delays by times when paying tax bills in person at the Municipal Office, particularly during August 2010.  As indicated above there are a number of alternative methods available to ratepayers for paying taxes and you may wish to consider using one of these alternative approaches this year.  Your patience and understanding is appreciated should you chose to visit the Municipal Office during the renovations.

Should you have any questions regarding any of the above information or the Explanation of Tax Changes included with your final bill, do not hesitate to contact our office at 613-735-6291, Monday to Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Properties are assessed by the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation, (MPAC). They have a web site that allows you look up the 2009 Roll Return for your property. MPAC has taken the necessary precautions to ensure that only basic property information along with the current value assessment is available. The property lookup method restricts enquiries to one property per search and does not facilitate data downloads. In order to access this information you will require the full Roll Number for your property, which is found on the top left corner of your tax bill.
