George Hodgkinson is serving his third term as Municipal Councillor, having been first elected in November 2003.
Cllr Hodgkinson currently serves as Chair of the Corporate Services Committee in Council’s standing committee structure. He is Chair of the successful Broadband Committee for Laurentian Valley and Petawawa, a joint committee representing both municipalities charged with overseeing the OMAFRA Broadband Project. Cllr Hodgkinson continues to serve on the Joint Septage Committee with the Town of Petawawa. Cllr Hodgkinson is a Trustee of the Pembroke Public Library representing the citizens of Laurentian Valley. Cllr Hodgkinson was also elected as Chair of Trustee Council # 7 (Renfrew County Libraries) and serves on the Provincial Library Organization (SOLS) as Vice Chair.
Cllr Hodgkinson retired from the Canadian Forces Medical Services in 2000 after serving thirty six (36) years. He retired with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer (CWO). He is the recipient of the Order of St John of Jerusalem, the Special Service Medal (NATO) Queen’s Jubilee Medal, and Canadian Forces Decoration 2nd clasp.
Cllr Hodgkinson has been recognized for volunteer services to the community, having received two (2) Ontario Volunteer Service recognition Awards.
Cllr Hodgkinson prides himself in his commitment to the ratepayers of Laurentian Valley Township and his Community. Common Sense and a Logical approach are the tools that he uses to assist him in fulfilling the responsibilities of a Municipal Councillor.
